She taught music and Tamil in her community of Pietermarizburg and trained other Tamil teachers in Second Language Practices. Kamshi is widely travelled, living in England, Japan, America and now Canada. She was highly impressed with her experience at Diwalifest as a tourist, and on moving to Vancouver, she and her husband became involved. Kamshi has a background in music, arts, culture and education. She currently works for Vancouver Public Libraries while conducting research for the Museum of Anthropology. She Chairs this Research Committee and is Internal Coordinator for the MOA Volunteer Association.
